Behind Crosland + Emmons is artist Dana Castle, whose practice is rooted in an enduring exploration of form, material, and the beauty of imperfection. Her works often begin without a fixed destination. Forms emerge through observation, experimentation, and an instinctive response to the clay, drawing subtle references from the natural world while resisting symmetry and repetition. Some become illuminated sculptures; others remain purely sculptural. Each is shaped by hand and allowed to retain the gestures, irregularities, and traces of its making.
