Inspired by forms found beneath the water’s surface, the Buoy Collection is a hand-sculpted work of illuminated sculptures.
Its organic white stoneware form is punctured by irregular openings, each surrounded by barnacle-like extrusions that appear to have naturally grown across the surface. Select areas of gloss glaze catch the light against the otherwise quiet, raw character of the clay, emphasizing the texture and depth of the piece.
Light escapes through the openings rather than simply illuminating a room, creating unexpected moments of glow, shadow and texture.
Each Buoy is sculpted individually by hand and will be an original — similar in spirit, but never repeated exactly.
Designed to hang as a singular sculptural statement or as a grouping of several unique forms, Buoy is intended less as a traditional source of ambient light and more as an illuminated object: sculpture first, light second.
